Welcome to the Brazos Valley chapter of the Buckmasters American Deer Foundation. Since 1999 our committee has hosted the annual Buckmasters Banquet for the Bryan/College Station area. We have raised and donated over $250,000.00 back to our community through programs like Miracle Farm, 4H, Wildlife Alliance for Youth, Wounded Warriors and other groups, which support our main tenets of Conservation & Compassion.
We are thrilled that you decided to visit our website today and look forward to seeing you at our 2012 Annual Banquet, which we hope to be the biggest and best ever. With your support we are able to do things like take a chronically ill child on the hunting adventure of is life. There are additional stories throughout our site, so please take time to read more about what we do and we'll see you on August 3rd at the Brazos Center.
Our veterans are directly responsible for protecting our freedoms, which give us the ability to congregate as we do each year, as well as enjoy hunting and the outdoors (and pretty much every other freedom we enjoy on a daily basis). Prior to the 2010 banquet we started a new project to take wounded veterans hunting as a small way to show our appreciation for their service and protection.
Our first hunt was with SGT James "Eddie" Wright, whose story is one of remarkable resolve and determination. Make sure you read his Bronze Star Medal Citation in the photo gallery. With the help of Kristen Distributing and the Griggs family of Franklin, we were able to take Eddie and a fellow Marine buddy on a 2 day hunt in Robertson County. We are excited to see this program grow in the coming years.
The future of hunting depends upon passing the traditions on to the next generation. Sometimes the opportunities for our youth to go hunting can be limited, especially for those who deal with issues like physical handicaps or other disabilities. In 2010 we were able to take a local 12 year old with cerebral palsy on the hunt of his life – literally.
Having already defied the odds of living past his first birthday, this remarkable little boy has a list of things he can't wait to do when he gets to Heaven, because his body won't allow him to do it here on earth. Topping the list was going hunting, and with your help, and the help of the 4D Ranch in Gonzales, we were able to make a wish come true for him that he thought would never be possible in his life. It is also worth noting that the hunting trip happened to fall on his 13th birthday making it all the more special for him.
The Brazos Valley Chapter of the Buckmasters American Deer Foundation is a small group of individuals brought together by their love of the outdoors with the desire to conserve our natural resources, and be compassionate to those in need within our local community.
Our major goals are to pass the traditions of hunting on to the next generation and to thank our veterans who protect the freedoms we take for granted. We provide college scholarships to our local high schools, and strive to have the most family friendly banquet with plenty of activities for the kids. At this year's banquet, make sure you check out our Passing It On To The Next Generation trophy wall with stories and pictures of our local yoth on their own hunting adventures.
